Christopher Nolan es uno de ellos. <em>The Odyssey<\/em>, su monumental adaptaci\u00f3n en IMAX de la epopeya de Homero, acaba de derribar uno de los registros m\u00e1s emblem\u00e1ticos del cine moderno: el r\u00e9cord hist\u00f3rico de segundo fin de semana que <em>The Dark Knight<\/em> ven\u00eda sosteniendo desde 2008. Pero el dato m\u00e1s impresionante viene del total global: en apenas diez d\u00edas desde su estreno, el film ya super\u00f3 los 640 millones de d\u00f3lares en todo el mundo, con $284 millones en el mercado dom\u00e9stico y $458 millones en el internacional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para dimensionarlo: <em>The Dark Knight<\/em> \u2014durante a\u00f1os considerada la mejor pel\u00edcula del siglo, s\u00edmbolo del cine de superh\u00e9roes hecho con ambici\u00f3n art\u00edstica\u2014 necesit\u00f3 semanas enteras para alcanzar cifras comparables. Nolan no solo est\u00e1 jugando en otra liga: est\u00e1 redefiniendo lo que el cine de autor puede lograr en t\u00e9rminos comerciales puros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>UNA APUESTA \u00c9PICA QUE NADIE M\u00c1S HUBIERA HECHO<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Odyssey<\/em> es el tipo de proyecto que en cualquier otro estudio hubiera generado crisis de p\u00e1nico en las salas de juntas. Una pel\u00edcula \u00e9pica, clasificada para mayores, filmada \u00edntegramente en c\u00e1maras IMAX de 70mm \u2014la primera producci\u00f3n narrativa en la historia del cine en lograrlo\u2014, basada en un poema cl\u00e1sico escrito hace casi tres mil a\u00f1os, protagonizada por Matt Damon como Odiseo. Y sin embargo, el p\u00fablico respondi\u00f3 como si fuera el evento cinematogr\u00e1fico de la d\u00e9cada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Porque, en cierta medida, lo es. El estreno global del primer fin de semana super\u00f3 los $264 millones, un n\u00famero que normalmente solo alcanzan los blockbusters de franquicias de superh\u00e9roes. El film abri\u00f3 adem\u00e1s con $124 millones en Estados Unidos, el mejor n\u00famero inicial de Nolan desde <em>The Dark Knight Rises<\/em>. La combinaci\u00f3n de ambici\u00f3n art\u00edstica y masividad comercial que siempre fue la marca registrada del director alcanza ac\u00e1 su punto m\u00e1ximo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>EL CINE VIVO EN TIEMPOS DE STREAMING<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hay algo casi subversivo en el timing de este \u00e9xito. Mientras las plataformas de streaming dominan el consumo audiovisual cotidiano, Nolan insiste en hacer cine para la pantalla grande, y el p\u00fablico le responde con la billetera. <em>The Odyssey<\/em> ya ocupa el sexto lugar entre las pel\u00edculas m\u00e1s taquilleras de 2026 a nivel global, y todav\u00eda tiene semanas de recorrido por delante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El r\u00e9cord de <em>The Dark Knight<\/em> fue durante mucho tiempo un s\u00edmbolo de lo que el cine pod\u00eda ser cuando se le daba espacio para respirar.
